Time to Nominate!

Last Updated on Sunday, 13 May 2012 20:15 Written by April Wright Sunday, 13 May 2012 18:34

Want to express admiration for a volunteer?
Want to see a teacher / staff name in lights?

Yes? Then please take the time to nominate them by
Tuesday, May 29th

Each year the Bryant PTSA gives several special awards to people who have given exemplary volunteer service to children in our community.

The Golden Acorn Award
traditionally recognizes and honors several individuals as part of a statewide PTA program. This year we will award a Golden Acorn to one teacher or other staff member and to one or more parents. The PTSA makes a contribution in the name of each of these individuals to the Washington State Scholarship Foundation. (The Foundation awards approximately $55,000 annually to high school graduates for post-secondary education.)

In addition, the Bryant PTSA traditionally honors one or more individuals with our local
“Volunteer Extraordinaire” award. The award recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to Bryant during the past year.

We also honor Unsung Hero/Heroines. This award was created to recognize people who quietly, consistently and reliably do one job over a long period of time - one school year or several, or take on different tasks as needed and never fail to be there to do them. These folks are often working under the radar or behind the scenes but the contributions they make are incredibly valuable to the Bryant community.

Please download and complete this Volunteer Awards Nomination form and turn it into the office in an envelope marked “Awards” or send an email with your nominations This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Tuesday, May 29th.

The PTSA Awards committee will review all nominations and the volunteer recognition awards will be given at the PTSA General Meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

The Writers’ Celebration book mark contest is here!

Last Updated on Saturday, 05 May 2012 09:12 Written by Administrator Saturday, 05 May 2012 09:09

The Writers’ Celebration is June 1st this year.  We will be taking contest entries until May 15th.  Forms were sent home on Tuesday and are also available here.  We encourage every child to submit at least one entry – but they are not limited to just one! They should let their imaginations go wild; and they shouldn’t be limited by the theme. If they have another idea about writing that they would like to express on the bookmark just have them include a sentence on the entry form (not on the bookmark itself) telling us what they’re thinking about. Finished forms can be sent to the Writers’ Celebration box in the office. If you have any questions please feel free to call or e-mail me: Patty Geldenbott (206)526-0590; This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Thank you!

Garden Buddies – Spring into Action!!

Written by Mikhaila Reudink and LeAnne West Sunday, 11 March 2012 20:41

-An update from Bryant's Parent Volunteer Garden Committee-

Spring is making an appearance despite some persistent cold temps, and Garden Buddies is ready to come out of hibernation. We'll resume Thursday morning gardening sessions at the Hands On Garden:

*Kids gardening: 8:30 to 8:50 am
*Parent volunteers (and pre-k helpers) from 9-10 am.

The more the merrier – we'd love to have you join us for group gardening! No experience necessary, younger siblings welcome. SPS budget primarily allows for mowing and blowing, so our community must maintain our abundant and beautiful school landscaping!

Have you noticed the bulbs popping up and how lovely the Winter Garden on the East side of the building looks?

A belated update from the Fall (better late than never): We had a very full Fall season. Many children helped in the Hands on Garden Thursday mornings. Six classrooms came out to plant bulbs (all K rooms, Spata and Masunaga-Fahselt) and 3 classrooms (Kereluck, Schimmel and Salisbury) had fun leaf raking and mulching. Mid-October

we had a highly productive Bryant community service work party in the Native Garden and a week later the Cub Scouts Pack 144 spent a morning laboring hard in the gardens.

We look forward to a great Spring. Students will be preparing for a summer garden, we'll have classroom activities and there is plenty of weeding and pruning to be done. We welcome your energy at any time!

Saturday, March 24, 2012, 7pm
Kaspars Special Events & Catering, $43 per person

The Roaring Twenties... jazz music blossomed, the flapper redefined womanhood, the Charleston was the dance of choice and Art Deco peaked. The era was characterized by unprecedented industrial growth, accelerated consumer demand and aspirations, and discoveries of far-reaching importance: cars, moving pictures and radio. "Intoxicating liquors" were decreed illegal and prohibition regulated the decade, creating a whole new underworld the likes of which the parents of Bryant have never seen.

Join us to celebrate the Bryant Community, have fun experiencing a bit of the 20's and raise money for the Bryant Tutoring Program through the raffle and other fundraising opportunities!  The Tutoring Program benefits every child at Bryant! Come support it!

A secret password will be provided two days before the event. Bring it with you to ensure entrance to the Jubilee Speakeasy!

Appropriate attire appreciated. Wear a flapper dress; come as a gangster!

Tickets are on sale online at roaring20sjubilee.eventbrite.com.

New Bryant School and PTSA websites

Last Updated on Monday, 29 August 2011 13:25 Written by Laura Marcial Monday, 29 August 2011 13:09

Dear Bryant Community:

As of now, the Seattle School District will be hosting the official websites for all the schools in the district, assigning a site to each school.

What does that mean for us? Bryant Elementary will now have two websites, with different functions:

1. New Website (hosted by the school district): http://bryantes.seattleschools.org/

  • This site will have a lot of new functionality. For example, each teacher will have class page(s) with information and resources for the students in their classroom. It will also allow you to overlay calendars of the district, school, classroom, and other activities.
  • To take full advantage of this website, and access information relevant to your child(ren) you need to be registered with THE SOURCE.
  • To register, please go to:https://source.seattleschools.org/pub/login/index.html

2. Old Website: http://bryantschool.org

  •  This website will now host mostly PTSA related information
  •  It will include information such as:
    • Who is who on the PTSA board and committees
    • Fundraising
    • Links to Amazon and escrip
    • Some other PTSA information (open volunteer positions, PTSA organized events, etc).

Please note:

Not all the functionality in the new http://bryantes.seattleschools.org has been implemented. We expect everything to be fully functional during the first week of classes. Some of the content that needs to migrate to the new website is still on the old http://bryantschool.org website. We expect to do most of the migration in the next few weeks. If you have questions, or run into problems, please e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  We will also post links to help and relevant documents on the new website, as information from the district becomes available.

Thank you for your patience, and welcome back!

The Bryant Website Team
